Rear Wheel Removal and Installation Guides

Rear Wheel Removal

Rear Wheel Installation
The best way to remove and remount the rear wheel with horizontal dropouts without getting your hands dirty is as follows:
  1. Make sure the chain is in the small chainring and on the smallest cog.
  2. Loosen the quick release.
  3. When you remove the wheel, the trick to unhooking the cog from the chain while creating enough room for the QR nut to clear the derailleur is to push the rear derailleur slightly inwards to the non-drive side of the bike (towards the bigger cogs, but without actually shifting). By pushing the derailleur and the rear wheel to the non-drive side you create the space needed.
  4. When you remount the wheel, hook the cog into the chain, then push the derailleur inward again for the same reason.
